Those who say they can, and those who say they can’t are both usually right.
We’re told from day one we can do anything we set our minds to.
So why do so many people end up in a pile of shattered dreams and broken dreams?
Because they settle.
They lay down their high aspirations and stay close to the ground.
Mistaking a safe harbor for happiness, they’re tempted to stay.
Nobody ever said following a dream was easy. Failure is painful and it’s constant
It can never be evaded
And that nagging itch always remains
That failure will come despite their best efforts
Failure is everywhere and it encroaches, pushing deeper into a never-ending spiral
I’m not good enough. I’m not strong enough. Why should I even bother?
Someone else could do better.
Blind to their own talents, they surrender to doubt
They shackle themselves to their own limitations like an elephant restrained with mere rope
Tied down from a young age, they stay fenced in and never leave
They avoid the sting of failure, so in their eyes, they’ve succeeded.
When in truth, they’ve only imprisoned themselves.
“You can’t have a nightmare if you never dream.”
For when life draws near to its inevitable end
The safety and security once fiercely sought will reveal itself for what it is
Nothing.
Nothing ventured. Nothing gained. Nothing to see. Nothing of value. Nothing lost. Nothing had.
So afraid of losing what little they had that they never knew what they had was so little.
